Common Sense Advice And Uncommon Legal Results

Training And Education

Duggan McHugh offers workplace training on a variety of topics, some of which are mandated by law.

Our attorney-lead trainings are informative, practical, and engaging, which is why we have established a reputation as a frontrunner in the area of employment law training for Sacramento businesses.

Not all companies may have a human relations department, but at Duggan McHugh, we believe that should not hinder a business from accessing quality, custom workplace trainings at a reasonable cost – and that’s where we come in.

We offer trainings both on-site and remotely, to management and staff, including interactive Zoom™ webinars on the following topics:

  • Mandatory AB 1825/SB 1343 Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
  • Diversity and Implicit Bias Training
  • COVID-19 Workplace Protocol
  • Best Practices in Hiring, Discipline and Firing
  • Other key Workplace Issues

Cost should never be a deterrent from providing your employees with quality, and sometimes mandatory trainings, which is why we provide our clients the option of hourly or flat rate training sessions. Training programs can be customized to meet your specific needs.

California Mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

Did you know? California employers with five or more employees must provide at least two hours of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to all supervisory employees and at least one-hour training to all nonsupervisory employees in California once every two years. This includes seasonal and temporary employees. The initial training must be completed by January 1, 2021. Thereafter, the training must be provided every two years and within six months of hire of new employees.

Duggan McHugh offers sexual harassment prevention trainings designed to comply with the law.

Diversity And Inclusion

Our brains naturally sort and create associations and implicit biases. When applied to people in the workplace, certain biases hinder effective recruiting, retention, productivity, performance management, and employee morale. Duggan McHugh’s diversity-focused trainings provide insight into bias in action, address concepts such as colorblindness and microaggressions, and offers concrete tools and strategies employers can use to manage litigation risk as well as facilitate a productive, diverse, and inclusive work environment. We also offer a variation of this training directly to our clients’ employees.

COVID-19 Workplace Protocol

Like much of the country, California employers have found themselves in a whirlwind of information and requirements related to COVID-19, which have been complex, ever-changing and confusing. As businesses are re-opening, many employers are faced with the daunting task of ensuring employee compliance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.  Our attorneys have quickly become experts on COVID-19 workplace-related compliance issues, including the creation and implementation prevention plans, risk assessments, and customized employee trainings. We offer comprehensive worksite plan to cover employee training, control measures, cleaning/disinfecting, and physical distancing protocols.

Quality Training Minimizes The Risk Of Litigation

In addition to preventative consulting, our firm also trains managers on how to handle difficult employment issues. We tailor our training sessions to address legal issues that routinely arise in a client’s business. Generally, we discuss the hiring and termination process, discrimination or harassment complaints, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Our training also focuses on preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
